Sue Herrman honored as winner of the 2024 Mercy Award
June 27, 2024
ELKO, Nevada – Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital (NNRH) recently announced that Sue Herrman has been recognized as the facility’s 2024 Mercy Award winner. Herrman, who has worked at NNRH for the past eleven years, serves as the executive assistant to the hospital’s leadership team.
Established in 2001, the Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, the founding chairman of Lifepoint Health, NNRH’s parent company. The award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint’s facilities across the country who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded. It is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
“At NNRH, we are committed to advancing Lifepoint’s mission of making communities healthier, and no one is more devoted to that mission than Sue Herrman,” said Steve Simpson, the hospital’s chief executive officer. “We are so proud to recognize Sue’s positive contributions to improving the overall health of our patients, supporting their families, and serving our community. Sue always goes the extra mile to meet any need that may arise and is a true champion of our caring culture at NNRH.”
Simpson described how Herrman chairs the NNRH Patient & Family Advisory Committee, a combined group of staff and community members working to address patient concerns and raise the quality of care provided at the hospital. Herrman also serves on the Patient Care Leadership Committee and the Employee Activities Committee, among others.
“If there’s an event happening at the hospital, or if we’re participating in a community event, there’s a good chance Sue is working behind the scenes to make it happen,” Simpson stated. He went on to list several events at which Herrman has volunteered including NNRH’s Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic, the annual Health & Fitness Fair, American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life, and the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics.
“Sue gives freely of her time to so many worthy causes. She’s a devoted member of her church and a vital member of our community. I’m inspired by her energy and compassion on a daily basis,” Simpson concluded.
As a Mercy Award semifinalist, Herrman will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2024 companywide award. She and a guest have been invited to travel to Nashville, TN, later this summer for a gala celebration during which the companywide winner will be announced.
Congratulations to Sue and to all the nominees for this year's Mercy Award. Thank you for all the ways you are making communities healthier each day!
