Angelina DeMars, winner of the Sunrise Award at NNRH

Congratulations to Angelina DeMars, the winner of the Sunrise Award here at NNRH! Angelina works as a unit clerk in our Emergency Department. She was nominated for this award by one of our ER nurses. Here’s what this individual wrote about Angelina…

Testimonial

One of the most important jobs in healthcare is to make a positive difference in the lives of the patients we see. In our often fast-paced ER, Angi tirelessly goes above and beyond to ensure that not only are the typical clerk duties completed with accuracy and efficiency, but that everyone's day is just a little bit better. She is truly the glue that holds our ER together.

Angi ensures that the ER is stocked and orders are placed. She coordinates with providers to set up consults, and she assists in arranging transfers and transports for our most critical ER patients. She sets and exceeds the bar for what an exceptional unit clerk can do for a busy emergency department.

But Angi is so much more than just a stellar emergency clerk. Every day she goes out of her way to make sure that team members are supported and patients feel cared for and heard. When the ER has been hit hard and is literally out of all supplies in rooms, it’s Angi who (without being asked or prompted) is restocking rooms, making IV kits, and ensuring that boards are updated. When a family is having the worst day of their lives watching a loved one be coded, it’s Angi who lends an ear and comfort. When a patient is cold and needs an extra blanket, it’s Angi who jumps to the call. When a new student is shadowing in the ER, it’s Angi who is one of the first to greet them and make them feel comfortable. Every patient that comes through the ER has a better experience because of Angi’s planning, preparation, and support for her coworkers and patients.

We can all agree that Angi is very deserving of this award. She consistently brightens the lives of all those around her, patients and co-workers alike. Congratulations, Angi!
