Michele Levie, CRNI, honored as DAISY Award winner

July 15, 2026

Congratulations to Michele Levie, the most recent recipient of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses here at NNRH! Michele is a certified, registered infusion nurse working in our Infusion & Chemotherapy Clinic. She was nominated for this award by two patients. We have included both of their nomination stories below…

First nomination story

“I was diagnosed with a bacterial blood infection, and I had to receive IV antibiotics daily for 14 days. Michele was there every day, going out of her way to make sure my wife and I were comfortable and had everything we needed. I hate hospitals and anything medical. She thoroughly explained the PICC line, care, and dressing changes. She explained the medication, answered all our questions, and made sure we understood what was happening. She was very patient and understanding with me as this was a new experience for me. She was always in a good mood and pleasant no matter how busy she was. She made sure I felt like a person, not just another patient or just a job. Michele is a great asset to NNRH!”

Second nomination story

“I came to get an iron supplement and witnessed a nurse taking care of a child who was there for chemotherapy, and it touched my heart. She never wavered from her positive attitude. I think this woman deserves this award every day as she told me about her own daughter’s battle with cancer. Not only did that child and her child battle cancer, but this nurse is battling cancer on behalf of her patients daily with a positive attitude and a smile. Thank you for the care you showed that child. You touched my heart and the heart of the Lord. God bless you.”

Congratulations, Michele! We all agree this award is very well deserved!

Nominees for the DAISY Award at NNRH, all of them extraordinary nurses!

About the DAISY Award

The DAISY Award was established in 1999 by members of the family of Patrick Barnes. He was 33 years old when he died of an auto-immune disease. The Barnes family wanted to do something positive to honor the nurses who had given Patrick such compassionate care during his lengthy illness. So, they established the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. What began as a “thank you” from one family to specific nurses has grown into a meaningful recognition program embraced by thousands of healthcare organizations around the world. Here at NNRH, we are proud to partner with the DAISY Foundation to celebrate our own extraordinary RNs.
