ELKO -- Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital announced yesterday that Robin Main has been selected as the recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. This annual award honors one nurse leader at the facility who inspires the staff they manage and improves the patient care they supervise. Robin Main has worked at the hospital for 15 years and currently serves as a charge nurse in the Surgical Services Department.

As part of the award selection process, nominations are accepted from employees, patients and community members. Robin was nominated twice in 2025. Excerpts from her nomination ballots are included below.

Nomination from a fellow registered nurse (RN)

“Robin merits consideration for the Daisy Award, having dedicated over 15 years of service to this hospital. Her tireless work ethic is admirable. It's just unfortunate that patients are often sedated and don’t recognize her special care firsthand. All of us in Surgery derive comfort from her reports, knowing that patients are in capable hands and that she ensures a seamless transition of care. As a colleague, Robin is exemplary, consistently demonstrating a commitment to excellence that serves as a model to all the nurses in the surgical unit.”

Nomination from a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA)

“Since the first day that I met her, Robin has always been more than willing to go above and beyond for patients, staff, and physicians. She is the go-to person if you need a problem solved. She is personable and thorough in her work. She is always making sure everything is getting done efficiently and safely."

“Recently, the on-call Surgery team was called in at 12:30 a.m. for a STAT C-section. Robin was the circulator on call. Upon arriving at the hospital, she quickly set up the operating room and prepared everything for surgery. She did not want to waste any time waiting for the scrub tech to arrive and assist her. Unbeknownst to Robin, for some reason the scrub tech was not aware that a STAT C-section had been called. Knowing it was critical to get the baby delivered, Robin wasted no time scrubbing in to assist the OB/GYN in the operation. Robin, being the outstanding nurse that she is, was able to function in both positions, both as the circulator and as the surgical technician. Because of Robin's willingness to go above and beyond, the baby was safely delivered.”

“Anyone who has had the opportunity to work with Robin knows that she is a very caring person and an excellent nurse. NNRH is lucky to have Robin. It is my pleasure to thank Robin for everything she does!”

As a winner of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award, Robin received a special sculpture entitled "The Healer's Touch". She will also be registered on the international DAISY Award website and will have access to all the rights and privileges availabe to DAISY recipients.

Congratulations, Robin! All of us at NNRH agree this award is very well deserved.
