Denise works in our Dietary Department where she regularly serves up both delicious meals and heartfelt smiles to our patients, visitors and staff alike. She was nominated for this award by a co-worker who underwent emergency surgery and ended up being admitted to our second floor. Here’s what this individual wrote about Denise…

Patient Testimonial

After my surgery, Denise came into my room asking what I wanted for my next meal. I remember saying something to the effect of “I don’t care as long as it’s at home instead of here.” My brain knew I needed to be where I was, but my heart hadn’t caught up yet. Denise kindly joked with me that I would never get the same attentive service at home as I would in the hospital. I really appreciated that, although she was on a time crunch and just needed to get the information and go, instead she paused and heard my heart saying that “I want my own bed, and my family rather than being here all night alone.” She didn’t rush me and took time and was patient, addressing a concern that was not at all related to food or her department. She looked deeper into what I was saying to her and reassured me that it wouldn’t be long before I was back where I belong. Only after all that did she go back to the meal selection, answering all the questions I had about the meals. Thank you, Denise!
