Hospital welcomes first baby of 2026

Elko, Nevada – Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital (NNRH) rang in 2026 with the year’s first bundle of joy. Weighing 8 pounds and 7 ounces and measuring 21 inches, Baby Xaliana was born to proud parents Rosalina and Rickey at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1.

Little Xaliana received numerous gifts as the “New Year’s Baby”. The volunteers with the NNRH Auxiliary provided a basket filled with clothes and goodies along with a $300 gift card to purchase baby supplies. The hospital administration gifted an infant discovery gym, while various community groups donated homemade blankets and additional toys.

Becky Jones, chief nursing officer at NNRH, said the hospital was pleased to welcome little Xaliana, along with each and every newborn.

“Helping our community’s families welcome their newest additions in a positive and memorable way is one of our greatest privileges,” Jones stated. “We have a seasoned clinical team who are dedicated to cultivating a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for mothers and babies all year round.”

Jones described how The Birth Center at NNRH provides high-quality, compassionate care close to home for new and expecting parents across the region. The hospital offers free prenatal classes, private delivery rooms, lactation specialists and a free breastfeeding support group.
