NNRH provides free lab work to 725 community members
March 25, 2026
ELKO, Nevada (March 21, 2026) – Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital provided free lab work to 725 people at Saturday's Health and Fitness Fair held at the Elko Convention Center. Over 30 hospital staff members worked alongside nearly 40 students from Great Basin College’s Health Sciences program to draw blood and provide blood pressure checks and other screenings.
“We are very grateful for our partnership with GBC,” said Steve Burrows, director of community relations at the hospital. "The students are so eager to help out, and we couldn’t pull off a large-scale event like this without their participation.”

Free lab work available until April 24
Burrows noted that the free blood work will continue to be offered at the hospital laboratory for the next two weeks. Community members may come to the laboratory between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. seven days a week through April 4th. Participants merely need to request the health fair lab work, and no appointment or insurance information is necessary.
“We invite everyone age 18 and up to come take advantage of the free lab work,” Burrows stated. “At NNRH, our mission is making communities healthier. This is one more way we can do just that.”
Frequently Asked Questions about Lab Work
When can I have my blood drawn at the hospital?
Our Lab staff prefers that you visit between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday. If you visit on a weekend, your wait time may be considerably higher. The last day for free lab work will be Saturday, April 4th.
Do I need to register at the hospital’s front desk?
No. Please go straight back to the Laboratory desk and let our team know you are there for the Health Fair lab work.
Will I need to wait in line at the Lab?
Yes. Please remember that our emergency patients and inpatients always come first. We appreciate your understanding as our phlebotomists work to provide services to everyone.
Do I need to bring my ID or insurance card?
No. We simply ask that you provide your full legal name on the lab paperwork along with your mailing address and phone number.
Can my family members come get their blood drawn, too?
Yes, as long as they are age 18 or older. We are not able to accommodate children in the Health Fair lab draw. Please encourage your adult family members to come to the Lab during the hours listed above.
How long will it take to get my results?
Our lab staff will be working diligently to process thousands of samples over the next month, so please be patient with them. Your results should be mailed to you within 10 days of your draw. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Can I add on additional screenings to the Health Fair list?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to add screenings beyond those approved for the free Health Fair panel. The following screenings are included and can provide a snapshot of your overall health:
- Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
- TSH Thyroid Screening
- A1C Diabetes Screening
- Full Lipid Panel (including cholesterol & triglycerides)
- PSA Prostate Cancer Screening (for men 55 and over)
Is the lab work really free?
Yes. At NNRH, our mission is making communities healthier. These free screenings can provide a snapshot of your overall health. We hope you’ll share your results with your primary care provider. It is our pleasure to provide these screenings at no cost to you.
