Doctors’ Day was first celebrated in 1935 by the Southern Medical Association Alliance (SMAA). Celebrations of Doctor’s Day continued on for decades unofficially until 1990 when a proclamation by President George Bush set aside the day of March 30th as National Doctors' Day. Medical Associations and healthcare providers nationwide are encouraged to celebrate physicians on National Doctor’s Day by paying tribute to physicians, reminding the public of doctors' dedication to the health and welfare of patients, and increasing awareness of the positive role of physicians in the community.
“The staff, administration and nurses at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital want to thank all of the doctors we work with for their service to our community,” said Rick Palagi, CEO. “Our physician’s skills, dedication, hard work and compassion are celebrated every year on Doctors’ Day; but they inspire us to be our best every day—and we could not be more grateful and are constantly proud of the care that they provide.”
Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital (NNRH) encourages local citizens to say “thank you” on Wednesday, March 30th to the physicians who provide their care and for dedicating their lives to helping others.
