Hospital supports Horizon Hospice

ELKO, Nevada – Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital recently donated $10,000 to Horizon Hospice in honor of the upcoming “Hospice Souper Bowl”. The annual benefit will be held on April 20th at 6:30 p.m. in the Elko Conference Center.

“Hospice care is a vital component of community health,” said NNRH CEO Steve Simpson. “Since arriving in Elko, it has been eye-opening to learn about all of the services that Horizon Hospice provides free of charge. I’m proud that our hospital supports such a wonderful organization.”

Billy Jean Crawford, executive director of Horizon Hospice, said that her organization was grateful to receive the contribution. “All of our funding comes from donations and we never charge for our services. That is what makes us a community hospice,” Crawford explained. “We are very thankful to have partners like NNRH who show such compassion and commitment to individuals and families who are dealing with end-of-life issues.”

Crawford stated that the annual Souper Bowl is the hospice’s only fundraising event. The evening includes live music, silent auctions, and gourmet soups prepared by local chefs and served in handmade soup bowls.

“There are still tickets available, and everyone is invited to join us,” Crawford said. Those who are interested in more information may call (775) 778-0612.
