NNRH observes healthcare celebrations in May
May 7, 2018
ELKO, Nevada – Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is joining with several national organizations this May to celebrate local healthcare professionals and to recognize their efforts in making Elko County healthier.
National Hospital Week
May 6 – 12 marks the American Hospital Association’s National Hospital Week. This annual event honors the millions of healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to taking care of people in their greatest times of need. From physicians and nurses to food service workers and housekeepers, each employee of the hospital plays an important role in providing a quality patient experience, according to Steve Simpson, NNRH CEO.
“I am so proud of the hard work our staff puts in each day that allows us to provide the highest quality care and create a safe, welcoming environment for our patients and their families” Simpson said. “They are at the heart of our efforts to create a place where people choose to come for healthcare, where physicians want to practice, and where employees want to work.”
National Nurses Week
Coinciding with National Hospital Week, May 6 – 12 is also National Nurses Week, an annual observance led by the American Nurses Association. This event recognizes the more than four million nursing staff across the country for their role in inspiring, innovating and influencing the delivery of quality patient care at the bedside.
“Our nurses play an essential role in ensuring that our patients have a positive experience at our hospital and leave here in better condition than they arrived,” Simpson said. “I am so thankful for their tireless dedication to upholding the highest standards and working to advance our mission of making communities healthier.”
National Nursing Home Week
Another celebration that NNRH will observe in May is National Nursing Home Week, May 13 – 19, which recognizes the care that skilled nursing centers provide for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
“We value our partnerships with the good people at Highland Manor and Highland Village,” Simpson remarked. “Our community is fortunate to have access to such compassionate caregivers for the elderly.”
National EMS Week
Finally, NNRH will celebrate National EMS Week from May 20 – 26. This observance honors the crucial, lifesaving care that emergency medical workers provide when minutes matter most. The hospital is inviting all first responders and their families to a barbecue in the Main City Park from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 16, as an early kick-off for this celebration.
“Improving the overall health and well-being of our community is definitely a team effort,” said Simpson. “I am honored and humbled to work alongside these healthcare professionals as they dedicate their lives to caring for our neighbors right here in Elko.”
