Steve Myers, Amy Tsu, Theresa Valtierra,
Lori Ayala, R.N. and Rex Mitchell
Sept 2003 - Service Excellence Award Winners
Steve Myers
Steve’s coworker writes:
“Steve has helped out recently as the house supervisor when we were down one position and the other supervisor was on vacation. He comes in extra at the last minute and always has a good attitude. Steve is “a gem” to have working in the hospital. Because he primarily works the night shift, his outstanding work often goes unnoticed to the rest of our hospital staff” …… (Not this time, Steve!)

Amy Tsu
A coworker writes:
“Amy receives many thank you notes from patients and families. She truly stands out as a role model for patient satisfaction in the Emergency Room department. During the recent weeks, some of our ER nurses have been unable to work due to injury or illness. Amy has jumped in and willingly worked extra shifts to help us meet the staffing standards. Amy really goes above and beyond on daily basis.”

Theresa Valtierra
Theresa was nominated by her supervisor as an employee who “works in the ER, Business Office, Admitting and PBX. She works in any area and at any time we need her…. And always does it with a smile.”

|
Lori Ayala, R.N.
Lori received her nomination from a coworker who witnessed “her courage and fortitude to do the right thing.” “…This action speaks to Ms. Ayala’s integrity and willingness to protect the safety of the patient. Ms. Ayala was willing to do so in a professional and respectful manner.”

Rex Mitchell - Director of Materials Management
Rex Mitchell was nominated by his coworkers as an employee who “leads by example.” Rex is the Chairperson for the Service Excellence committee so his nomination had to be “sneaked” through the Administrative Team. In the words of his coworker, “Rex goes to great lengths to make sure his department makes it to employee forums and shares information about the hospital with them. He is a great team player and effective team leader.”
