During the month of May we also celebrated National Nurse’s Week
On Monday, May 12, 2003 nurses from northeastern Nevada were recognized for their compassion and skill to meet the healthcare needs in our communities. The Registered Nurses of Northeastern Nevada (RNONN), an association established to advocate for the profession of nursing and to support local healthcare efforts, and Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital co-hosted a catered evening reception that encouraged networking and socializing as well as present a panel discussion program on topics of interest to nurses.
Each panel member represented a population cared for by practicing nurses in our area.
Lisa Dinwiddie, R.N. and RNONN President said, “It is important to bring nurses together so the community understands, nursing isn’t about where you work, it is about providing care for those who need it, when and where they need it.”
Elko City Mayor, Michael J. Franzoia, proclaimed May 6 through 12, 2003 Nurses Week and reading of the proclamation was included in the program. Included the proclamation was, “Nurses provide services with respect for human dignity and the uniqueness of the client unrestricted of social or economic status, personal attributes, or the nature of health problems.”
