Dorothy Gallagher Accepts Position with NNRH

ELKO, NEVADA, – “We are pleased to announce that Dorothy Gallagher, longtime Elko resident and community leader, has accepted the position of Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital’s Director of Strategic and Community Initiatives,” announced Tom Salerno, Province Healthcare Western Region Vice President. “We are honored to have Ms. Gallagher join our team at Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital. She has already contributed a significant amount of her own time in working with us and other members of the healthcare community to identify strengths, concerns and opportunities so that we can offer the best services to our patients.”

“I am happy to accept this position. If I can do anything to help the hospital become a vital force in the healthcare in northeastern Nevada then I would do my part,” noted Gallagher. “If we are going to move forward with economic diversification in our part of the state, we must support our regional healthcare system as people and companies looking at relocation always factor in education and healthcare in their decision-making.”

Gallagher is currently serving her fourth term as a Regent of the University and Community College System of Nevada Board of Regents. She was first elected to serve in the Elko, District 3, Subdistrict A Board of Regent seat in 1981. In addition, she has a long history of community service and is most recently known for her efforts in establishing the University of Nevada, Reno Fire Science and Emergency Management Academy near Carlin. She is a fourth generation Nevadan and is married to Dr. Tom Gallagher, an Elko dentist. They have three sons: Frank S. Gallagher who is a senior partner in Hale Day Gallagher, a Reno commercial real estate company; Thomas H. Gallagher, President of Summit Engineering in Reno; and Michael H. Gallagher, owner of Gallagher Ford, Lincoln Mercury of Elko.

Salerno stated, “This is an exciting time for Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital as we move forward in serving our communities with a beautiful new facility, brand new state-of-the-art technology and a great team of employees and healthcare professionals. Ms. Gallagher’s expertise and knowledge of the region we serve will be valuable to our healthcare mission in serving northeastern Nevada.”
