Bandera Appointed to NNRH Governing Board
ELKO, NEVADA, – “We are pleased to announce that Marcia Bandera has been appointed to the Governing Board of Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital,” announced Tom Salerno, Province Healthcare Western Region Vice President. “We are honored to have Ms. Bandera join us as we continue to move forward in establishing Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital as a regional leader in providing quality healthcare services.”
Marcia Bandera has been appointed by the NNRH Governing Board to replace Chip Dillard who recently resigned due to employment relocation out of the area. NNRH’s Governing Board is comprised of ten seats that are filled by members of the community with Charlene Chambers of Mountain City currently serving as the board chair. Other 2002 NNRH Governing Board Members include Dr. Aditya Bhargava of the Elko Clinic and current NNRH Chief of Staff; Ted Blohm of Blohm Jewelery; Dr. Mark Capener of Basin Ear, Nose & Throat; Annette Mills, local Certified Public Accountant; Mike Nannini of Coldwell Banker and Wells 4-Way Café and Casino; Dr. Jill Oswalt of Ruby Crest Emergency Medicine; Dr. Don Wasserman of Noreastern Nevada Urology; and Audrey White of Dale White Motors.
“When I retired from the Elko County School District last summer, I indicated that I would be looking for opportunities to volunteer my time to this community which I have chosen as my home,” said Bandera. “Healthcare and education have been subjects close to my heart and interest. Serving with the Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital Governing Board will allow me to give back to the community by being involved in our healthcare system.”
Bandera moved to Elko County from Carson City in 1992 when she became the Director of Instruction for the Elko County School District. In 1994, she became the District’s Assistant Superintendent and soon was selected by the Elko County School Board of Trustees to serve as the Superintendent. She retired from that position last June. Bandera has been widely recognized for her contributions to education. In 2000, she was voted by her peers as Nevada School Superintendent of the Year. In addition, last summer, U. S. Senator John Ensign presented her with a special recognition from the United States Senate for her contributions to education.
Along with her significant involvement in education, Bandera is also experienced in healthcare as she served as an instructor of Nursing and Allied Health Programs at the Western Nevada Community College, the Washoe County School District Vocational Education program, and the University of Nevada Reno Technical Institute/Nursing Arts program. Bandera was employed at one time as a Medical/Surgical Staff Nurse at Ross General Hospital in Ross, California and as a Staff Nurse in both Medical/Surgery and the Coronary Intensive Care Unit of St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno.
“We are excited to have Marcia join the Governing Board of Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital,” stated Mike Naninni, Governing Board Member and Elko County Commissioner. “She is well-known and respected statewide and brings a wealth of experience to the table that will be valuable as our board strives to support our hospital and the communities we serve in providing the best healthcare possible.”
