2004 Auxiliary President’s Report

We now have 29 members plus 2 on the inactive list. We have raised money for our Auxiliary by having a shoe sale, a uniform sale, a book sale, and collected funds through donations for the Tree of Life and sales in the gift shop. We also help the nursing students at Great Basin College by offering nursing scholarships. We were able to offer three $1,000 scholarships and six, $500 scholarships to local nursing students, funded through a private donation to the Auxiliary in the amount of $7,958.59.

In addition, we have purchased stuffed animals, games, books, and etc. for use by patients in the hospital and in the surgical and X-ray departments. We also provide activity items for children who have to go the ER and donate $50 per month to help needy people purchase medicine.

We have volunteers in various departments throughout the hospital such as the front desk, laboratory, patient advocacy interviews, physical therapy, shredding and the gift shop. Volunteers also make handkerchief bonnets for newborns as well as buntings for babies at Christmas and Easter.

Our spring installation and awards luncheon theme for May was “Volunteers Are Seeds of Happiness”. We award two deserving members with the Gold and Silver Auxiliary Award and install officers during this time.

Our hospital administration and hospital staff continue to be supportive toward our auxiliary and include us in their annual Christmas party and dinner.
